Dr. Vella first developed an interest in podiatry when he worked as a medical assistant at a podiatric office in Mesa, Arizona in 2006. From there, he attended the Arizona Podiatric Medicine Program at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona and graduated at the top of his class in 2011. He then did a 3-year podiatric medicine and surgery residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Michigan serving as chief resident his final year and graduating in 2014. During his residency, he did a mini-fellowship at Bako Diagnostics, which sparked an interest in dermatology and cutaneous surgery; therefore, upon completing his residency he obtained a full fellowship in Allentown, Pennsylvania where he completed extra training in plastic surgery, dermatology, wound care and more under the direction of Dr. Stephen Schleicher and Dr. Tracy Vlahovic.
Since graduating from fellowship in 2015, Dr. Vella has been in private practice in Phoenix, Arizona. He considers himself a “bread-and-butter” podiatrist, treating a wide variety of foot and ankle pathology, including fungal toenails and calluses, athlete’s feet, skin cancer, warts, ingrown toenails, hammertoes, bunions, arthritis, fractures, flat feet, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, Achilles problems, diabetic feet and wounds and much more.
